It’s a common misconception that chiropractic physicians exclusively treat the back and spine. In fact, hands-on chiropractic care can provide drug-free pain relief throughout the body. As Dr. Reed says: “Chiropractic care can help anywhere there’s a joint and a muscle.”

Forms

To save time at your Initial Consultation, you may print and fill out the set of new patient forms available on our Forms page. If you don’t have a printer, no problem! Come fifteen minutes early to your appointment. We have plenty of copies at the office for you to fill out.

What to expect at the first visit

New Patient Paperwork

Above is a link to the new patient paperwork. Click and print off the paperwork and bring it in with you to your first visit. This will help expedite your first visit, since the first visit can usually take about 45 minutes. If you do not have a printer then you can come to the office and fill the paperwork out here.

Consultation

After the paperwork has been completed, Dr. Megan will review the information you have provided and discuss it with you. She will consult with you on any health-related issues, concerns, treatment options, and any other questions you may have.

History

In order for Dr. Megan to have a better understanding of what type of problem you are presenting with she will ask you a varitiy or questions pertaining to your medical history, family history, and personal history. With this information answered, Dr. Megan will be able to make a more educated opinion on your condition.

Examination

Dr. Megan will perform a detailed exam including: postural assessment, range of motion, neurological tests, orthopedic tests, and palpation of the area to determine what tissues are affected and to what extent. Dr. Megan will then be able to explain her findings to you to help you better understand what is going on and the necessary steps to further confirm the diagnosis. She will then explain all treatment procedures that she deems fit for your condition. You may ask any questions you have at any time!

X-Rays or any other imaging

Your condition may require radiographs to either rule in or rule out more serious conditions, or better evaluate the structures to help develop the most effective treatment. Our office does not have an X-ray machine, therefore we refer any imaging to Wake Radiology in Cary. They are conveniently located at 300 Asheville Ave. Suite 100 Cary, NC 27518 and accept all major insurances. They accept walk-in appointment and you will leave with a disc of your images in hand. A radiology report will be emailed or faxed to our office. If you have had X-rays taken within the last year prior to visiting our office, we ask you to bring them with you.

Treatment

Treatment on your first visit is very common in our office unless the history and examination reveal any cause for concern that imaging is require first. All treatments will be thoroughly explained to you before and a Consent to Treatment form must be signed.

Review of Findings

A follow up visit will be scheduled within a week of your initial visit to discuss how your are feeling, treatment options, home care exercises, and a recommended treatment plan. Dr. Megan does not believe in set treatment plans due to the fact that everyone responds differently to care. The course of treatment will depend on patient compliance to the home care. Learn more about Dr. Megan Reed, DC.

Home Care Instructions

Prior to leaving all patients are given specific home care instructions to help their individual conditions. This may be information on the use of ice or heat, exercises to perform, and/or restrictions on activities or work related duties.
